San Jose immigration law attorney Alison Yew has been selected to the 2018 Northern California Super Lawyers list, indicating that she is among the Top 5 percent of immigration attorneys in Northern California. Alison Yew is herself an immigrant, having come to the U.S. as a child from Hong Kong. She graduated from the University of California, San Diego, with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology and then earned her law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. She has been practicing immigration law and civil litigation for more than 20 years. After developing the immigration law practice group for a national law firm, Alison founded Yew Immigration Law Group in 2013.

At Yew Immigration Law Group, Alison has successfully helped businesses hire highly skilled foreign workers through employment-based petitions and permanent work visas. She has helped the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services see the need for extraordinary talents in the U.S., obtaining residency and temporary status for athletes, performers, TV and film directors, musicians and choreographers. She has earned the confidence of high net-worth investors from overseas, representing them obtain green cards through the EB-5 investor visa program. She has also assisted many families reunify in the U.S. through preference-based family immigration.

As of 2018, Alison is certified as a legal specialist in immigration and nationality law by the State Bar of California. She is licensed to practice in both state and federal courts in California and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. She is active in the community, providing immigration assistance to asylees and refugees through Jewish Family Services in Los Gatos. In November 2014, Alison closed her practice to provide deportation defense to Central American mothers who had fled dangers at home only to be detained by the U.S. government. That year, Super Lawyers awarded its 2014 Pro Bono award to the organization Alison worked with, the AILA Artesia Pro Bono Legal Defense Team in Artesia, New Mexico.
